A mock interview day at Orchard School, supported by Ablaze, proved of huge benefit to students with some even discussing potential work experience placements. Well done to all the students and a huge thank you to our volunteers.
The year 10 students attended interviews with employers from various companies including Ernst and Young, Smith & Williamson, Thrings, Rolls Royce, the Highways Agency and many more. Volunteers were very positive about the experience which was hard work but really rewarding; “I really liked all the enthusiasm of all the students” said one volunteer, “the young people were a credit to the school” commented another.
The students themselves found the experience really useful and helped to demystify the interview process for many. Here’s what some of them had to say;
“At first I thought I was going to be nervous but through the interview it didn’t feel that way – the interviewer was friendly and really interesting.”
“It helped me think about the possibility of university.”
“I learnt that experiences aren’t scary – I thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m happy I got to learn about what I can improve upon.”
“The feedback made me want to aim higher and be more confident.”
