After proposed cuts to benefits were announced in the Spring Statement, ITV News West Country spoke to Gilly from Ablaze and Priya, who took part in our Employment and Skills programme, about the impact this could have on young people in the West of England.
On 26th March 2025, the Chancellor delivered the Spring Statement, which included cuts to benefits for young people and disability benefits.
Max Walsh from ITV News West Country spoke with Priya, who took part in an Ablaze employment and skills programme. Priya has a pain condition, and Universal Credit helped her access the support she needed to find a full-time job.
Gilly Samuddin from Ablaze spoke about how cuts to benefits could prevent young people from accessing the support that can help them find meaningful employment.
