Hello from the team at Ablaze. As we enter June, we wanted to post another update on what we are up to.

Firstly, a particular message to all our partner Primary schools and to all schools in the region as you tackle the difficult task of opening your doors. We know that you’ve been working extremely hard to put measures in place to accommodate returning pupils. We think you are heroes and we’d like to say a huge thanks to all senior leaders, teachers and support staff for their continued hard work and dedication. We so admire what you’ve been doing to keep in touch with your pupils during lockdown, to provide schooling for the children of key workers and the way you are now preparing to enable some pupils to return safely to school this term.

From this week we will we uploading some online content that schools can access for their children and young people. We hope you will find it useful. Huge thanks to those business volunteers that have supported us with this initiative. Keep an eye out for more information and new resources on our website and via twitter.

We now have the results of our poetry competition ‘Water’ and we will be sharing the winners and their poems on social media over the coming weeks. Look out for some fantastic poems from some very talented kids! We are delighted that we may be able to publish our poetry book in June. If you would like to buy a copy, please get in touch with us at enquiries@ablazebristol.org. It’s a bargain at £5.

It seems that lockdown is easing slightly, we will continue to monitor government advice and have our fingers firmly crossed that we can restart our activity in September.

In the meantime, continue to stay safe and well and best wishes to all.
