Ablaze Core Team
Sally Melvin has taken on the position of Chief Executive of Ablaze from 5th October 2015.
Sally joins Ablaze with a wealth of senior management experience at both national and local levels across charity, public and commercial sectors. She brings a wealth of experience in partnerships between businesses and education.
She held a senior role at the National Literacy Trust, worked in the Westminster Education Business Partnership and spent 8 years as a teacher. Since arriving in Bristol Sally has been the Company Manager for a skills training company and will now lead Ablaze at an exciting time in its development.
I am Ablaze's Partnership Manager, succeeding Alison Allan and will be leading on primary schools in Bristol and South Glos.
I am thrilled to be part of taking forward Ablaze's successful partnering of businesses and schools to support local children with reading and numeracy and provision of role models. I hope to recruit new partners to add to the backbone of existing participants.
My experience is in broadcast television production where I have been a Production Manager and Co-ordinator, managing all the logistics and finances for numerous programmes both at home and abroad.
My particular specialisms were in natural history and antiques programmes, for example, BBC 's 'Natural World' and the 'Antiques Roadshow', to name just two.
I am originally from Edinburgh and have been established in Bristol since 2003. I apparently haven't lost my Scottish lilt, however!
