Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with over 400 lawyers and support staff operating out of six offices across the country. The firm has a strong South West heritage having originated in Taunton in 1898, and now plays an important role in the local Bristol community where its main office is located.
Michael Clarke, a Clarke Willmott LLP partner and Ablaze enthusiast, began promoting the scheme within the firm four years ago. He has since presented awards at the last three annual awards ceremonies and has supported Ablaze by making useful introductions to local employers through his role as Council member and former Chairman of the South West CBI.
Eight members of Clarke Willmott LLP staff currently take part in the Ablaze Reading Buddy scheme, attending Hareclive Academy on a weekly basis, with Rhiannon Radcliffe winning an award for her excellent coordination of the firm’s team of volunteers at the Annual Ablaze Awards 2013.
Since the Summer of 2011 the firm has also been involved in a mentoring scheme at Brislington Enterprise College, running fortnightly workshops for its Year 9 students with the aim of developing their life skills, confidence and future career aspirations. At the 2013 awards ceremony the firm’s volunteer mentors won an award for “fostering an innovative cross functional team, providing inspirational coaching and giving back to the community of mentors and coaches”.
